In response to the initiative of former parliamentarian Iskhak Masaliev to review criminal cases, the GKNB expressed its opinion. The committee emphasized that only courts have the right to verify and overturn sentences, while the decisions of investigators can only be reviewed by the prosecutor's office.
Thus, the proposal to create a commission for the review of criminal cases contradicts the fundamental principles of the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution.
