Law enforcement measures linked to the anti-corruption campaign
Recently, in Kyrgyzstan, the vice-president of the Football Union, Kanatbek Abdykadyrov, and a former official from the president's administration, Nurgazy Anarkulov, were detained. This information came from sources within law enforcement agencies and was confirmed by the media.
According to Kaktus.media, Abdykadyrov was detained at Manas International Airport while attempting to leave the country with Kamchybek Tashiev, the former chairman of the State National Security Committee (GKNB). However, he was not allowed to leave due to a watch card that had been established, and he was taken in for questioning at the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after which he was released.
As for Nurgazy Anarkulov, he was detained while trying to cross the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.
At this time, there have been no official comments from the authorities regarding the detentions.
Changes in the actions of law enforcement agencies are associated with recent resignations and detentions occurring in the country amid anti-corruption investigations.
Recall that on February 10, President Sadyr Japarov made the decision to dismiss the Deputy Prime Minister and head of the GKNB, Kamchybek Tashiev, as well as all of his deputies.
Subsequently, it became known about the resignations of heads of regional divisions of the GKNB and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the head of the GKNB for Bishkek was detained on suspicion of corrupt activities.
