The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the scandalous statements of television host Vladimir Solovyov

Maria Zakharova emphasized that Russia's official position is represented only by those who are authorized to do so. She urged to focus on such statements.

Fake News and Provocations

According to her, the principles on which Russian-Central Asian relations are built have been discussed at a high level multiple times and are based on mutual respect and partnership. "The peoples of Central Asia and our country are historically connected by good-neighborly, strategic, and friendly relations. The foundation for further development of our cooperation is the trusting personal contacts between the leaders of these states," Zakharova noted. She added that such formulations have been voiced "countless times" at meetings and summits. The diplomat also highlighted the ongoing cooperation within the CIS and CSTO, where regional security issues are discussed.

The Situation Surrounding the TV Host

In light of Vladimir Solovyov's statements, journalists noticed changes in his broadcasting schedule, as reported by Tengrinews. The program "Evening with Vladimir Solovyov" has not been airing on the "Russia 1" channel since January 12, having been replaced by another show. According to information from Sib.fm, the reason for this was the broadcasts in which Solovyov mentioned the possibility of a "new special military operation" in Central Asia.

He also referred to the former Soviet republics as "our lands," which prompted diplomatic clarifications. Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such incidents are referred to as "self-inflicted wounds on live air," sources claim.

It is important to note that Solovyov's provocative statements on the state channel sparked active discussions on social media and reactions from the countries mentioned. In particular, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin and handed him a note of protest, expressing deep outrage over the TV host's statement. In Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev suggested that Solovyov be declared a persona non grata, while the presidential administration urged not to give significance to his words. Deputy Aidos Sarym from the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan compared the TV host's statements to a "mosquito bite," which should not be reacted to so sharply.
