Storm Warning: Snow Avalanches and Icy Roads Expected in Kyrgyzstan

According to forecasts from Kyrgyzhydromet, heavy precipitation is expected in mountainous areas and on some highways of the country on February 6-7, which may lead to avalanches, snow drifts, and icy conditions.

According to the service, increased avalanche danger is expected in the following areas:

Bishkek–Osh — 198–255 km (Ala-Bel Pass, Chychkan Gorge);

Ala-Buka – Kanysh-Kyya — 65–110 km;

Krasnaya Gorka – Ak-Tash — 0–3 km;

Myrza-Ake – Kara-Kulja – Alaykuu — 65–101 km;

Karakoil – Enilchek — 45–90 km (Chon-Ashuu Pass).

Drivers are strongly advised to exercise caution. When traveling through avalanche-prone areas, it is necessary to maintain a distance of at least 500 meters between vehicles.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges citizens to limit trips through mountain passes in adverse weather conditions and to check information about the road situation in advance.
