Storm Warning: Avalanches and Snow Drifts Expected on the Mountain Roads of Kyrgyzstan

According to information from Kyrgyzhydromet, from January 19 to 21, dangerous weather phenomena are expected in the mountainous areas and on several highways of Kyrgyzstan. This includes the risk of snow avalanches, ice, and glaze.

In particular, on the Bishkek - Osh highway, avalanche warnings are issued for sections from 121 to 138 km (Tuu-Ashuu Pass) and from 198 to 255 km (Ala-Bel Pass, Chychkan Gorge). Risks also exist on the roads Ala-Buka - Kanysh-Kiya (68–74 km and 86–101 km, Chapchyma Pass), Krasnaya Gorka - Ak-Tash (0–3 km), Myrza-Ake - Kara-Kulja - Alaykuu (65–110 km), Karakol - Enilchek (45–90 km, Chon-Ashuu Pass), and Balikchy - Kazarman - Jalal-Abad (326–349 km, Kok-Art Pass).

The Ministry of Emergency Situations recommends that drivers exercise increased caution in these areas. It is important to maintain a distance of at least 500 meters between vehicles when passing through avalanche-prone sections.
