On January 21, 2026, a police inspector from GOM-3 of the GUV, Lieutenant U.O.Sh., was detained in Osh while receiving a bribe. The operation was conducted by the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the State Committee for National Security, this police officer used his official position to systematically extort money from foreign citizens working in Osh. Aware that these individuals lacked the necessary permits, he coerced them into paying monthly sums ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 soms for so-called "protection." In case of refusal, he threatened fines and deportation.
In accordance with Articles 96 and 97 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, U.O.Sh. was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Currently, investigative actions are ongoing to identify other possible accomplices in this crime.
