Employees of weight and dimension control detained for extorting money from drivers

As a result of the operation, seven employees of the weight and dimensional control on the Bishkek-Osh highway were detained, suspected of regularly extorting money from drivers. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to available data, the control system employees were taking bribes ranging from 1000 to 5000 soms from drivers for unhindered passage of trucks that exceeded the permissible weight limits without the necessary documentation. Preliminary estimates suggest that between 150 and 200 trucks passed through the established posts daily.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 337 "Abuse of official position" of the country's Criminal Code.

During operational activities, employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained the weight and dimensional control employees at the site of the bribe acceptance. Measures of restraint in the form of detention have been chosen for the detainees, among whom are citizens A.Z. (born in 1991), S.U. (born in 1981), A.A. (born in 1998), A.R. (born in 1994), M.M. (born in 1979), T.T. (born in 1973), and A.B. (born in 1994).

Investigative actions are currently ongoing.
