- During the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 19, 2026, Deputy Erkinbek Isenaliev made a request to impose a ban on the use of feed produced outside the country.

He noted that this issue raises significant concern among fishery managers.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev pointed out that previously, VAT was not charged on imported fish feed; however, as of February 12, 2026, this tax has been reintroduced to support domestic producers.

At the same time, the deputy minister emphasized that there is no ban on the import of foreign feed.

The deputy also called for an inspection of the quality of local fish feed.

At that moment, the draft law "On the Ratification of the Protocol Amending the Marrakech Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization (Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies)" was being discussed, which was adopted at the Twelfth Session of the WTO Ministerial Conference on June 17, 2022, in Geneva, and was under consideration for the second reading.
