On the Procedure and Reasons for Replacing Lifelong Driver's Licenses in Kyrgyzstan
Kanybek Tumanbaev noted that the replacement of indefinite driver's licenses is necessary, as the old documents do not have a digital version and are not accepted in several neighboring countries, which creates difficulties when using them outside of Kyrgyzstan. Transitioning to new samples will legalize the licenses and meet modern international standards.
He also pointed out the shortcomings of the old licenses: they have weak security features and often include outdated photographs, making it difficult to identify individuals and opening up opportunities for abuse. In contrast, the new documents will have improved security elements, which will reduce the risks of fraud and facilitate the work of road safety officials.
During the visit, the presidential chief of staff also spoke about innovations in the application submission system through "Tündük." Previously, a medical certificate of form 083 was requested automatically, but starting Monday, this requirement will be lifted for the replacement of old licenses. Now citizens will be able to submit applications for document replacement online, without leaving their homes.
To avoid queues, Kanybek Tumanbaev urged citizens to follow the established rules:
• those whose licenses are not digitized and not reflected in the "Tündük" system must come in person for replacement;
• those who see their licenses in the system are recommended to process the replacement online.
This approach will enhance the security of documents, make life easier for citizens, and optimize the work of government agencies.
