Weather conditions in Mongolia from February 9 to 13, 2026:
In the mountainous areas of Khuvsgul and the foothills of Altai, light snowfall is expected on February 9, while in some parts of the western aimags, snow is anticipated on February 12. No precipitation is expected on the other days. The wind will blow at a speed of 3-8 meters per second, but on the 12th, its speed in the Altai mountains will increase to 14-16 meters per second.
The temperature in most regions will be lower than usual. At night near Lake Uvs, in the Darkhad Basin, Zavkhan, and at the source of the Zag-Baidrag River, temperatures will drop to -31–36°C, while during the day it will be -19–24°C. In the mountainous areas of Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Khentii, as well as in the valleys of the Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, Tuul, Terelj, and Kherlen rivers, nighttime temperatures are expected to be -25–30°C, while during the day they will rise to -13–18°C.
In the foothills of the Khangai Mountains and the southern part of the Gobi region, daytime temperatures will range from -7 to -12°C, while during the day it will be +4 to -1°C. In the northern part of the Gobi region, nighttime temperatures are expected to be -12 to -17°C, and during the day -1 to -6°C. In other areas, nighttime temperatures will be -17 to -22°C, and during the day -4 to -9°C.
