Iran has closed its airspace to aircraft, Reuters reported a possible US attack

Military actions may be initiated within 24-48 hours

On Thursday morning, Iranian authorities decided to close their airspace to all flights except international ones with special permits. This information was confirmed by the Flightradar24 service.

Earlier, German authorities strongly recommended their airlines avoid flights over Iran. The governments of Poland, Italy, and Spain also urged their citizens to leave the country "by any available means." In turn, the United Kingdom closed its embassy in Tehran and withdrew staff due to ongoing unrest.

On January 14, Reuters reported, citing its own sources, that the U.S. may begin military actions against Iran within 24-48 hours. According to American media, the White House is considering various options for its response, including military strikes, cyberattacks, and the imposition of new sanctions against Tehran. Iran, in response, threatened to carry out attacks on American military bases in the Middle East region.

It should be noted that since December 28, mass protests have been taking place in Iran due to a sharp deterioration in the economic situation and high inflation rates. The country's authorities claim that external forces and extremist groups are behind the unrest. According to a human rights agency, the number of fatalities among protesters has reached 2,403, including 12 minors and 147 security personnel. Additionally, 1,134 people were injured, and 18,434 were detained.

U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iranian authorities of "harsh measures" in the event of executions of protesters. The Iranian Foreign Ministry called for negotiations with the U.S. At the same time, a U.S. Navy carrier strike group is heading to the Middle East from the South China Sea, as reported by NewsNation journalist Kelly Meyer, citing her sources.
