By 2030, the government plans to increase this figure to 25 percent
During the "Agrodialog" forum, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, announced that by 2025, the volume of agricultural production will reach 459.7 billion soms, which is 62.9 billion soms more than the figures for 2024.
He noted that the processing industry will produce goods worth 104.7 billion soms, which is also 16.2 billion soms more compared to the previous year.
Currently, the level of agricultural product processing in the country is only 7 percent; however, the government intends to increase this figure to 25 percent by 2030 and to 50 percent by 2040.
“To achieve these goals, it is necessary to launch 385 new processing enterprises, 75 of which are planned to be opened by 2026, as well as to develop agro-clusters and value-added chains,” he added.
Kasymaliev also reported an increase in agricultural product exports: more than 60 types of goods have started to be supplied to over 80 countries.
As part of the National Program for Agricultural Development until 2030, key areas have been identified, such as:
- increasing the volume of agricultural production by 30 percent;
- doubling the physical volume of processing;
- reducing water losses to 15 percent;
- expanding irrigated land by 15,000 hectares;
- improving water accessibility for 93,000 hectares of land.
“Considering the relevance of the water supply issue for the irrigation sector, 12.3 billion soms have been allocated in 2026. In total, 41.1 billion soms are planned for agricultural development, which is more than the 31.5 billion soms allocated in 2025,” the Prime Minister noted.
He also emphasized the importance of scientific research and educational initiatives in agriculture and the economy as a whole, expecting significant contributions from the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University and scientists in this field.
