Kasymaliyev: More than 60 types of Kyrgyz agricultural products are exported to over 80 countries worldwide
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev, participated in a forum titled "Agrodialog." In his speech, he emphasized the significant achievements in the agricultural sector, mentioning key indicators from the past year.
The volume of agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan reached 459.7 billion soms, which is 62.9 billion soms more than in 2024, with a growth rate of 102.2%. Meanwhile, in the processing industry, the volumes amounted to 104.7 billion soms, which is 16.2 billion soms more compared to 2024, with a growth rate of 130.1%.
Exports of agricultural products also showed positive results: over 60 types of products are now supplied to more than 80 countries. At the same time, the country is fully self-sufficient in 6 out of 9 socially important food items.
"Your efforts and selfless work have become the foundation of these achievements. Every year, there is increasingly coordinated work between government structures and business. We are witnessing noticeable progress in addressing issues related to fuel, loans, and other important aspects," emphasized Kasymaliev.
He also reported that within the framework of the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030, key directions for agriculture are planned, including increasing production volumes by 30%, doubling the processing of agricultural products, reducing water losses by 15%, increasing irrigated land by 15,000 hectares, and improving the availability of water resources by 93,000 hectares.
"Considering the importance of water resources, 12.3 billion soms will be allocated for irrigation in 2026. Overall, 41.1 billion soms is planned for agriculture, which is 9.6 billion soms more than the previous year," he added.
Kasymaliev noted that in the coming years, it is necessary to actively develop the infrastructure for seed production, breeding livestock, and nurseries, paying special attention to the effective use of preferential loans for project implementation.
According to the head of the cabinet, by 2030, the volume of agricultural product processing is planned to increase to 25%, and by 2040 — to 50%. Currently, this figure is only 7%. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to launch 385 new processing enterprises by 2030, of which 75 are planned for 2026, as well as to develop agro-clusters and value-added chains.
In his speech, he cited examples of successful practices from the Netherlands, where tulips are grown, generating over 1 billion euros in income, and Turkey, which exports dried apricots worth about 400 million dollars a year.
Kasymaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan has also started exporting dried apricots and emphasized the importance of further work to increase the recognition of Kyrgyz apricots on the international stage. The main step in this direction should be to expand the sale of domestic products in the internal market.
He stressed the need to enhance the value of local products by organizing their promotion at a high level and forming a culture of consumption.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers drew the forum participants' attention to the importance of science and education in agriculture and the economy as a whole, expressing hope for a significant contribution from the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University and scientists working in this field.
As part of the forum, a ceremony was also held to award employees of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
