The agency commented on the detention of a pediatric nephrologist
A nephrologist from the National Center for Maternal and Child Health was arrested in Bishkek. She is suspected of negligence that led to the amputation of a minor patient's leg. The Ministry of Health responded to this incident.
“Our ministry always advocates for compliance with the law, the protection of the rights of both patients and medical workers, as well as for an objective legal assessment based on factual data and professional expertise,” the agency stated.
Health Minister Kanbek Dosmambetov, upon learning of the situation, immediately contacted the relevant state authorities. He emphasized the importance of an impartial and comprehensive examination of all circumstances of the case, taking into account medical conclusions and the possibility of applying measures not related to imprisonment.
The ministry emphasizes the need to maintain a balance: on one hand, it is unacceptable to conceal violations, and on the other hand, it is unjustified to pursue medical professionals. Each case should be considered based on facts, evidence, and independent medical expertise,” the ministry added.
It is worth noting that on February 18, a nephrologist B.N. was detained in Bishkek. The mother of the injured girl filed a complaint with the police regarding inadequate treatment, which resulted in her daughter's leg being amputated.
Employees of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health issued an appeal on social media to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, urging for an objective investigation of the case. They also request that the preventive measure for the doctor be determined without detention.
