Bermet Baryktabasova, head of the Independent Medical Union and an expert in evidence-based medicine, published a comment on her Facebook page regarding the detention of pediatric nephrologist Nasira Beishebaeva.
In her message, Baryktabasova indicated that the incident is a consequence of a "medical tragedy" that has caused a wide public outcry. She noted that an unsuccessful treatment outcome is often perceived as a doctor's mistake; however, this does not always reflect the reality of medical practice.

According to her, "medicine is about managing probabilities, not guaranteed outcomes," and even with the correct treatment strategy, the progression of a disease can be unpredictable.
The union leader added that three key aspects influence treatment outcomes: the physician's knowledge, healthcare resources, and the nature of the disease itself. A deficiency in any of these factors can lead to serious consequences.

She emphasized that "even experienced and conscientious doctors can face numerous objective reasons that hinder the implementation of optimal treatment."

Baryktabasova also listed several factors affecting the situation:

The union leader noted that society has the right to demand quality medical care; however, the responsibility for treatment outcomes cannot be placed on a single doctor, especially in conditions of limited resources.

"The main conclusion from such tragedies is not to seek a 'guilty doctor,' but to improve the healthcare system so that in the future, medicine has more tools and opportunities to fight disease," Baryktabasova concluded.

It is worth noting that on February 18, a nephrologist, candidate of medical sciences, and associate professor Nasira Beishebaeva was detained in Bishkek. According to the Bishkek City Police Department, the mother of a patient who was treated at a medical facility in 2024 filed a complaint about a possible medical error. The complaint alleges that the nephrologist, while providing medical assistance to the minor K. A., born in 2011, allegedly provided inadequate treatment, leading to the amputation of her right leg. A criminal case has been initiated against her under part 2 of Article 146 "Improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker, resulting in serious harm through negligence" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Based on the results of forensic medical examinations, charges have been brought against her. She is currently detained and is in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police Department.

The staff of the National Center for Evidence-Based Medicine (NCEM) appealed on social media to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, requesting a fair investigation into the case and the selection of a preventive measure for Beishebaeva that is not related to arrest.
