At the press conference, colleagues of nephrologist Nasira Beishebayeva, who was detained, spoke out.
The chief physician of the National Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation, Aina Jetibaeva, expressed support for the girl's family and provided information about the treatment. "The patient was hospitalized on October 11, 2024, with a referral from family doctors and a suspicion of 'glomerulonephritis.' The girl exhibited swelling and the presence of free fluid in the abdominal cavity — anasarca," she confirmed.
From the first day of the girl's stay in the hospital, all necessary examinations and treatments were initiated. "On the third day, the diagnosis of 'acute glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, active stage' was established. By the eighteenth day of treatment, we achieved partial remission. On November 11, an ultrasound revealed 'thrombosis of the arteries and veins in the popliteal region of the right lower limb.' From November 14 to 21, examinations and treatment were conducted based on the recommendations of vascular surgeons, as well as online consultations with colleagues from St. Petersburg and Moscow. All specialists emphasized the need for a combined operation, and conservative therapy was carried out. One of the reasons for thrombosis was considered to be the severe course of nephrotic syndrome and the history of COVID-19," she added.
According to the chief physician, tests confirmed thrombophilia, indicating genetic changes in the homeostasis system.
On November 21, an extended council was held at the National Hospital, where vascular surgeons, representatives of the Ministry of Health, and the girl's relatives gathered.
"The council decided to continue conservative treatment. On November 23, a decision was made to amputate the right leg at the thigh level; however, the parents refused the operation. At the initiative of the relatives, the girl was transferred to Turkey on November 25, but after the operation, her condition did not improve, and part of the limb was amputated," Jetibaeva explained.
According to information provided by Jetibaeva, following the complaint from the girl's mother to the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), this case was reviewed by a service commission of the Ministry of Health, as well as a forensic expert commission, and a comprehensive forensic medical examination was conducted. She noted that Beishebayeva has 30 years of experience and has established herself as a highly qualified specialist.
"This is not negligence or a crime; it is a consequence of the underlying disease. As I said, COVID-19 led to serious complications. Unfortunately, such situations occur in medicine. This was not dependent on Nasira Adylbekovna. Throughout the entire time, she actively interacted with all instances and colleagues, and multiple councils were held, but it turned out this way," she emphasized.
Jetibaeva also added that the detention of the doctor jeopardizes the planned kidney transplant at the center. Currently, 80 organ transplant surgeries have been performed at the National Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation. The last patient who underwent surgery requires corrective therapy, which was managed by Beishebayeva. The medical staff again requested the court to release the nephrologist under house arrest.
It is worth noting that on February 18, Nasira Beishebayeva, a candidate of medical sciences and associate professor, was detained in Bishkek. According to the Bishkek City Police Department, the mother of the patient filed a complaint about a possible medical error that led to the amputation of the right leg.
A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 146 "Improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker, resulting in serious harm through negligence" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The suspect has been charged and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police Department.

The staff of the National Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation recorded a video appeal to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, urging an objective investigation into the case. The medical professionals also requested a measure of restraint for Beishebayeva that is not related to detention.

Health Minister Kanibek Dosmambetov emphasized the importance of a comprehensive and impartial analysis of the situation.
