In a traffic accident in Kyrgyzstan, 121 children died in a year
In 2025, about 900 accidents were registered, resulting in casualties
This year, according to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov, approximately 900 road traffic accidents occurred in Kyrgyzstan, resulting in fatalities. Among them, 121 victims were children.
Urmambetov reported that more than 80 deaths were related to the actions of drivers under the influence of alcohol. Analysis showed that the main causes of these tragedies remain driving while intoxicated, as well as crossing into oncoming traffic and speeding.
“We are constantly strengthening measures of accountability and tightening penalties for driving under the influence of alcohol, revoking licenses. Nevertheless, the number of drivers getting behind the wheel while intoxicated continues to rise,” he noted.
Additionally, Urmambetov added that to reduce corruption risks, employees responsible for road safety are using body-worn cameras.
