A memorial prayer was also held as part of the event.

April 7 is celebrated in Kyrgyzstan as the Day of the People's April Revolution, established in memory of the events of 2010 that led to a change of power. These mass protests against the regime of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev were accompanied by clashes both in Bishkek and in other regions, including events near the White House. The reasons for discontent included rising tariffs, corruption, pressure on the opposition, and concentration of power. According to official data, 87 people died during these events, and more than 1,500 were injured.
The status of this day as a holiday was established in 2011, and for a long time it was considered a non-working day. However, this status was later revoked, and now April 7 is commemorated as a memorial date with mourning events. According to the Labor Code, the working day on this day is shortened by one hour.
