The secret voting in parliament has begun.
Marlen Mamataliyev has become the only candidate nominated for the position of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh. Currently, the parliament deputies are participating in a secret vote on his candidacy.
Recall that in the morning, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced his intention to resign from the position of Speaker, emphasizing that this decision is voluntary and was made without any external pressure.
After this, the deputies decided to start the process of selecting a new Speaker and announced a break for consultations, allowing the deputy groups to propose their candidates. However, none of the five deputy groups — "Adilet Kyrgyzstan," "Ala-Too," "Ata-Jurt," "Mekenchil," and "Eldik" — nominated alternative candidates.
It is worth noting that rumors about the possible appointment of Marlen Mamataliyev as Speaker began circulating even before the official announcement of Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu's resignation.
