Deputy Marlen Mamataliev has been nominated for the position of speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, which became known on February 12 during a parliamentary session.
The candidacy of Mamataliev was supported by the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too".
It was previously reported that he, representing electoral district No. 23 of Bishkek, could be elected as the speaker of parliament.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, who held the position of speaker, resigned today.
