Marlen Mamataliyev elected speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh
77 deputies voted for Mamataliyev's candidacy, while five voted against.
Today, at a meeting of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marlen Mamataliyev was elected the new speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh. The decision was made following a secret ballot, in which 77 deputies supported his candidacy, while 5 voted against.
It is worth noting that Mamataliyev had no opponents for this position. The parliamentary groups "Adilet Kyrgyzstan," "Ala-Too," "Ata-Jurt," "Mekenchil," and "Eldik" held consultations but did not propose any alternative candidates.
We remind you that this morning, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced his decision to step down as speaker. He noted that this decision was made voluntarily, without any pressure. After that, the deputies immediately began the process of electing a new leader of the parliament.
Interestingly, rumors about the possible election of Marlen Mamataliyev to this position began circulating even before the official announcement of Turgunbek uulu's resignation.
