Two police officers have been detained on suspicion of extortion, according to information announced by the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) on January 26.

The investigation claims that police captain O.G.O., who is an investigator at the Nariman District Department of Internal Affairs (OVD) in the Kara-Suu region, extorted $3000 from a local resident. He had a refusal to initiate a case regarding fraud, the investigation of which began in 2024. The intermediary was the investigator from the Aravan District OVD, captain S.N.S.

Two police officers were detained while receiving $1600 by GKNB and Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) operatives and are now in the GKNB pre-trial detention center.
