The GKNB detained employees of the Uzgen ROVD on suspicion of brutal beating

The State National Security Committee detained employees of the Uzgen Police Department on suspicion of brutal beating
The State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (GKNB) is conducting an investigation into a criminal case related to serious harm to health and abuse of office by police officers in the Uzgen district.

The investigation established that on January 3, 2026, employees of the Uzgen Police Department, abusing their powers, unlawfully detained two men. They were taken to the Kurshab police station without the necessary procedural documents. During the detention, physical violence was applied to them, resulting in one of the men sustaining serious bodily injuries. He was diagnosed with a closed traumatic brain injury, contusion, and cerebral edema.

In the case of the crimes stipulated by Articles 130 part 3 item 2 and 338 part 2 item 4 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, police officers S. K., I. u. K., and A. A. have been detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB. Active investigative actions are underway.

The GKNB urges citizens to report any instances of abuse of office and other offenses committed by law enforcement officers.
