Who Will Lose Their Titles? A New Draft Law Has Been Brought Up for Discussion

As part of the public discussion, a draft law has been presented concerning changes to the current legislation "On the Establishment of Military Ranks, Class Ranks, Special Class Ranks, and Special Titles." The purpose of the document is to modernize the process of awarding ranks in a number of state structures and to adapt the legislation to the contemporary realities of governance.

In the new version of the draft law, it is proposed to change the wording regarding the agencies responsible for awarding special and class ranks. In particular, instead of referring to "customs services and prosecution authorities," it will mention "operational and investigative units of the customs authority." It is also planned to exclude some provisions that have lost their relevance.

One of the key amendments is the change to Article 10, which introduces a clear list of military ranks for employees of the Military Prosecutor's Office — from junior lieutenant of justice to major general of justice.

Additionally, changes will affect Articles 5 and 11, concerning the application of norms to prosecution authorities, as well as the exclusion of outdated provisions from Article 12 and the military ranks of major general and lieutenant general of the customs service from Article 13.

The appendix to the current law will be presented in an updated format.
