KOICA to allocate $10 million for clean air project in Kyrgyzstan

On February 2, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic between Minister Medera Mashiev and representatives of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

According to the ministry, the negotiations discussed the details of a project aimed at improving air quality in Bishkek and the Chui region from 2026 to 2028.

This project plans to allocate non-repayable aid from the government of South Korea amounting to up to $10 million. The main goals include reducing pollutant emissions, creating a comprehensive air quality management plan, and implementing environmentally friendly heating systems in public educational institutions.
