In Bishkek and the Chui Region, a project is being implemented to improve air quality

On February 2, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, attended by Minister Mederbek Mashiev and his deputy Asel Raimkulova. The meeting took place with a delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as reported by the ministry's press service.
During the meeting, details of the project aimed at improving air quality in Kyrgyzstan were discussed. The project is expected to be implemented from 2026 to 2028 in Bishkek and the Chui region.

According to information provided by the ministry, the government of the Republic of Korea will provide grant assistance of up to 10 million US dollars. The main objectives of the project include reducing pollutant emissions, developing a comprehensive air quality management plan, and implementing environmentally friendly heating systems in public educational institutions.
