An avalanche buried a shepherd and 50 sheep in Suusamyr — his partner revealed the details

Residents of the village are actively participating in search and rescue operations after a man was caught under an avalanche in the Suusamyr Valley.

According to local witnesses, two men were herding sheep. "The guy in front suddenly turned around — and at that moment, the avalanche came down. The person who was leading the sheep from behind, along with a horse and about 50 sheep, was instantly buried under the snow," the report states.

Among the search participants are also local young people who are assisting the emergency services. The missing man has two sons and a daughter who are currently working abroad.



It is reported that the avalanche occurred on February 12 at around 12:00 on the Boroonduu pasture, located in the upper reaches of the Kyzyl-Oy rural district of Suusamyr. A local resident, D.A., born in 1967, was buried under the snow along with 50 sheep and one horse.

Information about the incident was received from the head of the Kyzyl-Oy village by the emergency situations department of the Jayil district. Forces from the Ministry of Emergency Situations were mobilized to provide assistance.

Today at 06:00, five more rescuers from the Jumgal district arrived at the scene. Search operations are ongoing, and new information will be provided as it becomes available.
