- The State National Security Service of Kyrgyzstan (GKNB) has discovered the fact of illegal privatization of a daily regulation reservoir (DRR) located in the Issyk-Ata district of the Chui region. This was reported by the GKNB press service.

“On November 30, 1999, the reservoir was illegally transferred to the balance of the agricultural production cooperative ‘Pakhary’ according to the transfer act. Then, in 2021, based on decision No. 28 of the head of the Ivanovsky ayil okmotu of the Issyk-Ata district, this reservoir was transferred to the ownership of the SPC ‘Pakhary’, after which a state act on the right of private property was issued,” the press service clarified.

As a result of the operational investigative actions carried out, the water infrastructure object that was illegally privatized has been returned to state control and transferred to the structural unit of the Ministry of Agriculture — the Issyk-Ata Water Management Department,” GKNB representatives added.

According to the GKNB, during the Soviet era, such reservoirs were actively constructed to provide agricultural lands with irrigation water. Their purpose was to accumulate water during periods of excess, such as in winter or during rains, for further use in dry seasons.
