Employees of the weight and dimensional posts on the Bishkek - Osh highway were detained on charges of bribery, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
According to law enforcement agencies, the detainees regularly extorted money from truck drivers, demanding between 1,000 and 5,000 soms for the opportunity to pass with an excess of the permissible weight without formalizing the corresponding violations.
Every day, between 150 and 200 trucks passed through the specified posts.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the crime under Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which covers "Abuse of official position." As a result of operational measures, six individuals were detained: A.Z. (born in 1991), S.U. (born in 1981), A.A. (born in 1998), A.R. (born in 1994), M.M. (born in 1979), and T.T. (born in 1973).
Investigative actions in the case are ongoing.
