Car thieves have turned to "exchanges" on social media

In the Nookat district, young people were arrested for stealing a car and then exchanging it for another vehicle through social networks.

This was reported by the press service of the Osh regional department of internal affairs.

According to law enforcement agencies, on December 1, 2025, a citizen M.E., born in 1966, approached the Nookat district police department. He reported that on the night of December 1, his car, a "VAZ-2107," parked near his home, was stolen by unknown individuals.

This incident was registered, after which preliminary investigations began.

Based on the collected data, a criminal case was initiated under Article 211 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning "Illegal appropriation of a motor vehicle," and investigative actions commenced.

During operational activities, two suspects were detained: M.N., born in 2003, and T.M., born in 2007. They were placed in a temporary detention facility.

The investigation established that the detainees posted an advertisement for their stolen car on social networks and exchanged it for another vehicle.

Currently, operational and investigative activities are ongoing.
