Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained workers of weight and dimension posts on the Bishkek–Osh highway for extortion.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs received information about possible abuses by employees of the weight and dimension posts located on the Bishkek–Osh highway, which are subordinate to the Department of Ground and Water Transport of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a number of officials regularly accepted bribes from drivers ranging from 1000 to 5000 soms, which allowed trucks to pass without delays despite exceeding the permissible weight, without formalizing violations. According to preliminary estimates, between 150 and 200 trucks passed through these posts daily.

In connection with the above, the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case under Article 337 "Abuse of Official Position" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime detained the employees of the weight and dimension post at the moment of receiving money. A preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen for six individuals — A.Z., born in 1991; S.U., born in 1981; A.A., born in 1998; A.R., born in 1994; M.M., born in 1979; T.T., born in 1973; and A.B., born in 1994.
