According to information provided by the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Jalal-Abad region, on January 5, 2026, a report was received at the duty station of the Bazar-Korgon District Internal Affairs Department stating that serviceman A.A., born in 2007, shot himself while on guard duty and died.
In connection with this event, the investigative service of the Bazar-Korgon District Internal Affairs Department recorded materials in an electronic information log and initiated a preliminary investigation. As part of the investigation, an examination of the incident site was conducted. A firearm in a loaded condition and two spent cartridges were seized from the scene. A forensic medical examination was also appointed.
According to the regional police data, on January 6, 2026, all collected materials were transferred to the Military Prosecutor's Office.

As reported by the GPS press service on January 5, a serviceman of the conscription service, A.A.N., born in 2007, tragically died at correctional institution No. 10, located in the village of Bai-Munduz in the Bazar-Korgon district, who served in the 5th guard battalion of the Department of Protection and Convoying of the GPS.
The incident occurred on January 5 at approximately 15:25 at the guard post. Preliminary data suggests that the serviceman shot himself for unclear reasons and died from the injuries sustained at the scene.
The Deputy Chairman of the GPS — Head of the Department of Protection and Convoying Colonel Kurmanbek Sokeev, as well as heads of relevant services, arrived at the scene to organize operational investigative actions.
Representatives of the Bazar-Korgon District Internal Affairs Department and the military prosecutor's office of the Jalal-Abad garrison also joined the investigation. Currently, the military prosecutor's office is conducting investigative actions and gathering necessary materials.
According to preliminary data, the deceased serviceman was from the village of Kozhomkul (formerly Voenno-Antonovka) in the Sokuluk district of the Chui region.

In July 2025, Turmush reported that another tragic incident occurred in the same battalion of the Department of Protection and Convoying of the GPS, located in the Jalal-Abad region, where a serviceman committed suicide.
This new correctional institution was built in 2024. Turmush previously reported on its official opening. More than 2 billion 283 million soms were allocated from the republican budget for the relocation of correctional colony No. 10 outside the city of Jalal-Abad.
In the colony, 12 production sites were created to engage convicts in labor. The workshops belong to the state enterprise "Kelechek" under the Penitentiary Service.
The institution occupies an area of 13 hectares and is designed for 1,250 places, of which 1,000 are intended for general regime convicts, and 250 for strict regime convicts.
For the construction of the correctional colony, 13 hectares of land were allocated, located 25 km from the city of Jalal-Abad.
A military town for the 5th battalion of the Protection and Convoying Service was also built.
The new battalion is located 38 km from the city of Jalal-Abad, 6 km from the village of Bai-Munduz.
Previously, the Penitentiary Service was part of the Ministry of Justice, but recently it became an independent agency and is now called the State Penitentiary Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
