In response to his question, the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber, Almazbek Akmatov, stated that after amendments to the law on the Accounts Chamber, if the number of auditors is reduced to three, one candidate will be proposed by President Sadyr Japarov, and the other two will be nominated by the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Regarding the requirements for candidates, he noted that auditors, accountants, and financiers with at least nine years of work experience will be able to participate in the competition.

On February 3, the President of the KR, Sadyr Japarov, presented the Jogorku Kenesh with a draft constitutional law with amendments to the law on the Accounts Chamber.
According to the information provided in the accompanying materials, these changes were developed by the Accounts Chamber itself. The main goal of the amendments is to improve the legal regulation of the work of this structure and to ensure its institutional, functional, and financial independence in accordance with international standards of external state audit (INTOSAI).
According to the explanation from the Accounts Chamber, the following changes are being introduced in the draft:
1) reducing the number of auditors from nine to three, which implies that the Accounts Chamber will consist of three auditors, including the chairman, as well as the staff and territorial divisions;
The draft law also clarifies the quotas: one auditor will be appointed by the President of the KR, and two auditors will be elected by the Jogorku Kenesh on its own initiative.
2) removing restrictions on the functions of the Accounts Chamber, allowing it to conduct all types of audits, including financial audits, compliance audits, and performance audits.
Since April 2021, Almazbek Akmatov has held the position of Chairman of the Accounts Chamber.
