As of February 19, 2026, dismantling work on hydro unit No. 2 is actively ongoing as part of the "Modernization of the Uch-Kurgan HPP" project. The Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, is personally overseeing the completion of the tasks.
The main contractor for the project is the China National Electric Engineering Company (CNEEC), which completed the preparatory work for dismantling by February 1. The project involves 65 specialists, as well as the necessary construction and lifting equipment.
After the successful acceptance of unit No. 2 on February 10, dismantling work began.
By February 16, the dismantling and lifting of the generator rotor were successfully completed. Currently, the disassembly of the stator and rotor of the generator is ongoing.
According to the established schedule, the dismantling work is to be completed by the following deadlines:
- by February 22 — dismantling of the generator;
- end of February — beginning of March — dismantling of the turbine;
- first days of March — completion of all work on hydro unit No. 2.
At this moment, the work is proceeding strictly according to plan, without delays.
At the same time, preparations for new equipment continue. The stator of the new generator for unit No. 2 has already been fully assembled at the installation site and has passed successful electrical tests. The generator rotor is 50% assembled.
