In 2026, parallel reconstruction of two units: No. 1 and No. 2 will begin at the Uch-Kurgan hydroelectric power station.
According to information from the Ministry of Energy, the modernization of the Uch-Kurgan HPP is being carried out as part of Package-2, with the general contractor being the Chinese company CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd.).
The parallel reconstruction of the units will significantly reduce timelines and enhance project efficiency. Preparatory and engineering works for both units have already begun. Work on hydro unit No. 2 will start on February 1, 2026, and for hydro unit No. 1 — on March 1, 2026.
Currently, welding work on the stator rods for unit No. 2 is underway, as well as the assembly of rotor spokes with defectoscopic control. At the same time, project and technical preparation for unit No. 1 is ongoing.
All work will be carried out in strict accordance with the approved schedule, adhering to all technical standards and industrial safety regulations.
It is worth noting that due to the parallel reconstruction, the station's capacity will increase in stages. As a result of modernization, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP already increased by 18 MW in 2025, and by the end of 2026, the total increase will amount to 36 MW.
The goal of the Uch-Kurgan HPP modernization project is to enhance the reliability and efficiency of hydroelectric equipment, as well as to ensure the stable and long-term operation of the station.
