Currently, preparatory and engineering works for both hydro units have already begun. The reconstruction of unit No. 2 is planned to start on February 1, 2026, while unit No. 1 is set to begin on March 1, 2026.
At present, work is being carried out on welding the stator rods of hydro unit No. 2, and the assembly of the rotor spokes is being conducted with non-destructive testing. Simultaneously, project and technical preparations for hydro unit No. 1 are underway.
All work will be carried out according to the approved schedule, adhering to technical requirements and safety standards, as clarified by the ministry.
The parallel reconstruction of the hydro units will ensure a phased increase in the installed capacity of the station. As a result of the modernization completed in 2025, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP has already been increased by 18 MW, and by the end of 2026, the total increase in installed capacity will amount to 36 MW, according to the Ministry of Energy.
The implementation of the project aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of hydroelectric equipment, ensuring sustainable and long-term operation of the station.
