According to reports, the work is being carried out by the general contractor - the Chinese company CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd.).
Preparatory and engineering works for both hydro units have already begun. The reconstruction of hydro unit No. 2 is scheduled to start on February 1, and hydro unit No. 1 on March 1 of this year.

"Currently, work is being carried out on hydro unit No. 2 for the welding of stator rods, as well as the assembly of rotor spokes with defectoscopic control," the message states. "At the same time, project and technical preparation for hydro unit No. 1 is underway."
All work will be carried out in accordance with the approved schedule, adhering to technical requirements and industrial safety standards, the company promises.
The parallel reconstruction of the hydro units will ensure a phased increase in the installed capacity of the station. Thus, as a result of the reconstruction in 2025, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP was increased by 18 MW, and by the end of 2026, the total increase in installed capacity will amount to 36 MW.
