Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Station: In 2026, the station's capacity will increase by 18 MW due to reconstruction
As reported by the company, the work within the framework of the second phase is being carried out by the general contractor, the Chinese company CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd.).
“In 2026, a parallel reconstruction of two hydro units: No. 1 and No. 2 is planned at the Uch-Kurgan HPP. This will reduce the modernization timeline and increase the overall efficiency of the project. Preparatory and engineering work on both units has already begun,” the press release states.
The launch of the reconstruction of hydro unit No. 2 is scheduled for February 1, 2026, while work on hydro unit No. 1 will begin on March 1, 2026.
“Currently, welding work is being carried out on the stator rods for hydro unit No. 2, as well as the assembly of the rotor spokes with defect control. At the same time, design and technical preparations for hydro unit No. 1 are underway,” the press service added.
As a result of the reconstruction, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP will increase by 18 MW by the end of 2025, and by 2026 the total increase in installed capacity will amount to 36 MW.
