On February 12, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, announced his intention to resign from his position.

This statement was made during a parliamentary session, where he emphasized that he would continue to serve as a deputy.
“Political culture is important to us. I have decided to step down as Speaker of the Parliament voluntarily to avoid misunderstandings and rumors. No one has pressured me, and I will not allow that to happen. Kyrgyzstan needs stability, and the political reforms initiated by Sadyr Nurgozhoevich must be completed. I will remain a deputy,” Turgunbek uulu stated.

Turgunbek uulu has held the position of Speaker since 2022 and was re-elected in December 2025 after early elections.
