On February 12, during a parliamentary meeting, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, who holds the position of Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh, announced his decision to resign.

He emphasized that this decision was made of his own accord and was not the result of any pressure.

“I do not consider it appropriate to link my resignation to specific individuals. Since my election as the speaker of the VII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh on October 5, 2022, I have made efforts to enhance the authority of the parliament and to pass significant legislation for the benefit of the Kyrgyz people and the country as a whole,” he noted.

According to him, the political stability in Kyrgyzstan, which contributes to growth and development, is the result of the joint efforts of the team led by Sadyr Nurgozhoevich and the members of parliament. Turgunbek uulu added that he will continue his activities as a deputy.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu was elected as a deputy from the №15 district in the parliamentary elections held last year, and on December 17, 2025, he took the position of speaker of the VIII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh.
