On February 12, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, officially announced his decision to resign from his position.
This statement was made during a parliamentary session; however, he will continue to fulfill his duties as a deputy.
This decision was a result of recent personnel changes initiated by President Sadyr Japarov.
Turgunbek uulu has held the position of speaker since 2022, and in December 2025, he was re-elected after early elections to the Jogorku Kenesh.
