At the World Government Summit in Dubai, Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, participated in a ministerial roundtable, as reported by the press service of the Cabinet.
In his speech, Torobaev emphasized that the global community is facing a whole range of challenges related to climate, water, food, and social aspects. In such conditions, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires a transition to systematic and long-term risk management.
Particular attention was paid to the lack of water resources, which is exacerbated by climate change.
As a mountainous country that forms the sources of rivers in Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan bears special responsibility for preserving the water ecosystems of the region and actively raises issues of water security on the international stage.
