At the World Government Summit in Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev participated in a ministerial roundtable.

In his speech, Torobaev noted that the modern world faces a number of systemic challenges, including climate change, water resource shortages, food security issues, and social difficulties. In such conditions, it is necessary to transition to a more comprehensive and long-term approach to risk management in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

An important topic of discussion was the water resource deficit, exacerbated by climate change.

“The Kyrgyz Republic, being a mountainous country that forms the headwaters of Central Asian rivers, bears a special responsibility for maintaining the resilience of water ecosystems in the region and consistently raises issues of water security on international platforms,” he emphasized in his statement.
