He also expressed concern about the recent trips of military personnel from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland to Greenland with unclear intentions, calling it a “dangerous situation” for global security.
“Starting February 1, 2026, all the listed countries will be burdened with a 10% customs duty on all their goods exported to the U.S., increasing to 25% on June 1, 2026. These measures will remain in effect until a full agreement on the purchase of Greenland is reached, which the United States has been working on for over a century,” he added.
Trump also emphasized that modern military technologies and the need for border protection make the acquisition of Greenland particularly relevant. “Hundreds of billions of dollars are spent on security programs related to protection, and this can only be effective if Greenland becomes part of the American system,” he concluded.
