In Kyrgyzstan, the Bekkaris' pits want to be replaced with crematoriums

At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on agricultural policy, water resources, subsoil use, ecology, and environmental protection, which took place on January 12, Deputy Saltanat Amanova raised the issue of the need to create Bekkari pits in various regions. She noted that there is only one such pit in Osh, built back in the 1970s, and it is already filled. As a result, local residents are forced to dispose of animal carcasses in random places.
Amanova suggested that within the framework of a project developed by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, it would be possible to organize the construction of pits across the country.
Deputy Head of the Ministry Zhanibek Kerimaliev responded to this request, indicating that the issue of Bekkari pits is being considered within the framework of another project. He also added that filled pits are isolated to prevent the spread of infections. "We aim to implement such practices throughout the republic," noted Kerimaliev.
In addition, he reported on plans to introduce mobile crematoria that could reach remote pastures for the disposal of animal carcasses.
