Ayatollah Arafi appointed acting Supreme Leader of Iran

Arafi, as previously reported, was considered one of the possible candidates for the position after the death of Ali Khamenei. According to Iranian state sources, until a new spiritual leader is elected, the country will be temporarily governed by a council consisting of the president, the head of the judiciary, and one of the members of the Guardian Council.
