According to reports, on February 6 in Moscow, on Volokolamsk Highway, a man fired several shots at General Alekseev, after which he was urgently hospitalized in one of the local hospitals.
A Russian named Lyubomir Korba was arrested in connection with the shooting, and two of his accomplices have been identified. One of them was detained in the capital, while the other, according to available information, has fled to Ukraine.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the attempted murder and illegal trafficking of weapons due to the incident.
Vladimir Alekseev, who has held the position of First Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff since 2011, participated in Russian military operations in Syria and was awarded the title of Hero of Russia in 2017.
He has also been awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland IV class and the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
