Assisting him were Russian citizens Viktor Vasin (born in 1959) and Zinaida Serebrytskaya (born in 1971). Vasin was arrested in Moscow, while Serebrytskaya, according to intelligence agencies, managed to leave the country and travel to Ukraine.
Earlier reports indicated the arrest of two individuals in connection with the assassination attempt on Alekseev. The general-lieutenant himself regained consciousness after the operation.
The incident occurred on the morning of February 6. The investigation suggests that the attacker was waiting for Alekseev on the stair landing of his home on Volokolamsk Highway and fired several shots. As a result of the attack, Alekseev sustained injuries to his limbs, abdominal area, and chest, leading to significant blood loss, after which he was taken to intensive care.
