According to the investigation, the shooter Lyubomir Korba arrived in Moscow in December 2025 with the aim of carrying out a terrorist act on the instructions of Ukrainian special services.
Korba, originally from the Ternopil region of the Ukrainian SSR and now a citizen of Russia, was arrested after being extradited from Dubai.
His accomplice, Viktor Vasin, is now charged with illegal arms trafficking and attempted murder of a military officer.
Vasin, who previously served as an officer and headed the security department of one of the Moscow companies, met Korba in 2015 at officer training courses, and they have maintained contact since then. The investigation suggests that he provided the killer with weapons.
Zinaida Antonuk was also involved in the assassination attempt; she rented an apartment in the same building as the general on the 26th floor. She gathered information about him through neighbors.
The 54-year-old Antonuk changed her surname to Serebritskaya after obtaining Russian citizenship and moved in December 2025 to the building where Lieutenant General Alekseev resides on Volokolamsk Highway. During this time, she could observe the general and relay information to Korba. After the assassination attempt, she left Russia and returned to Ukraine.
The assassination attempt on the general occurred on the morning of February 6. Korba was waiting for Alekseev on the landing and fired several shots at him, resulting in the general sustaining injuries to his limbs, abdomen, and chest, which led to significant blood loss. He was urgently taken to intensive care.
Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee, previously reported that a criminal case had been initiated in this matter under articles concerning attempted murder and illegal arms trafficking, and the Moscow prosecutor's office has taken control of the investigation.
