Trump threatened eight European countries with tariffs over their stance on Greenland

According to The Guardian, Trump stated that starting February 1, all goods exported to the U.S. from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland will be subject to a 10% tariff.

Furthermore, he noted that starting June 1, the tariff rate will increase to 25%.

The U.S. President emphasized that "for many years we have funded Denmark and other EU countries without receiving any customs duties or rewards from them. Now, after so many years, Denmark must repay its debt - it's about peace around the world!" - Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.

He also added that "the tariff will be imposed until a complete agreement on the purchase of Greenland is reached."

Trump reiterated concerns that "China and Russia are trying to take over Greenland," stressing that "Denmark won't be able to do anything about it."

It is important to note that Trump had previously threatened to impose tariffs on goods from countries that opposed his plans to control Greenland, claiming that the island is "critically important to our national security."
